Cervical Cancer Drops, but Disparities Persist
In the United States, rates of invasive cervical cancer declined between 1998 and 2002, although significant racial, ethnic and geographic differences persisted, according to pre-vaccine surveillance data covering 87 percent the population of women.

Cervical Cancer Vaccine Gets U.S. Approval by FDA
The first vaccine to prevent cervical cancer won U.S. approval when health officials cleared a vaccine to block a sexually transmitted infection that causes the deadly disease.
